I'd known Paula for a few years through work, and even though I'd since moved on, we'd kept in touch on social media. I'd loved seeing all her happy updates when she met Dan and I was thrilled for her when Dan popped the question in Ghent....and just when I thought I couldn't be any more happy about it, she asked ME to photograph her wedding! YIPPEE!
Paula explained that it would be a small, intimate wedding at Temple Newsam and that it had to be there because that's where they met, doing a park run! So we started with an autumnal pre-wedding shoot for this loved up pair in the gardens and grounds!
I had to ask how exactly love had been found during a park run, and Dan explained that he’d actually spotted on twitter that Paula would be there, and just knew he had to seek her out and talk to her. The rest, as they say, is history!
Paula told me she wasn’t MAD keen on having her picture taken, and that it had to be me because she knew I’d put them at ease. Before long, it’s like I wasn’t there at all!
On the big day, I met them at the venue. Paula made her entrance in a red mini, and then we were through to the great hall for them to say “I do!” Paula was walked down the aisle by her three beautiful children, Beth, Immy and Austin.
I think this is one of my all time favourite shots though - pure joy and happiness! I love the way they are checking each other out!
Despite it being mid-April, it was unseasonably chilly with icy winds, so we didn’t spend as much time outside as we’d have liked – but we did still get some stunning shots in the grounds. Fortunately, Temple Newsam House is such a stunning building inside and out, so we were able to take plenty indoors too.
Quick confetti throw and then it was time for me to bid the happy newlyweds goodbye as they went on for a low key wedding meal at the White Swan Salute in Rothwell.
Thank you both so much for having me as part of your big day, I loved every minute!
Paula and Dan booked a bespoke wedding photography package to suit their budget and needs for their day. Contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or 07779 27147 to chat about how I can help capture YOUR big day!
